At a distance of around 9kms from Virar railway station is a small coastal village called Arnala. It is quite popular among the people in and around Vasai and of late the crowd from Mumbai . One can spend an entire day at these beach. Being a coastal village majority of natives here are fishermen.

The Arnala Beach attracts a lot of tourists. The Suru trees on the southern end of the beach provide a cool shade for relaxing and picnicking. The sea is not clean nor safe for swimming, one has to be very careful if tempted to venture in these waters. You can actually enjoy and have more fun in the swimming pools at the resorts nearby.

Arnala beach also has its share of beach resorts. Some of the known resorts are Lopes farm, Anand Resort, Mhatre Resort, Cocohut, Sea Lord etc, with recreational facilities and swimming pools. Most of these resorts have contact offices in Mumbai to facilitate advance booking for an overnight stay.
For those who want to enjoy swimming in the sea there is an area which is very safe and clean a few kilometers towards the north. This area also has a beautiful garden of ‘Suru’ trees. Ask for Mukkam village beach and any local folk will guide you. The problem here is it is isolated and should be visited in groups and of course you will need to carry the essential requirements as there are no shops or stalls around.
