Bandra Fort
The Bandra Fort or, to use its more impressive sounding official name, the Castella de Aguada was built by the Portuguese in 1640. It later passed on to the British, who lost it to the Marathas in 1739, and gained it back from them in 1761.
Bandstand in the Bandra suburb is Mumbai’s famous lovers point. It is a landmark of its own with a beautiful sea face location. It is approx a 2Km stretch of road which eventually leads to Bandra fort. The Bandra fort is an ideal place for lovers who wish to spend a nice quite afternoon talking to each other. The Bandra fort has been shot in many bollywood movies too.
On top of the Bandra Fort, Part of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link is visible on the left. There is Amphitheatre in the Bandra Fort premises.
The bandstand resident association has spent a lot of time and money to make the bandstand promenade which is used by the residents for jogging and walking. Couples love to sit by the sea side, some of them (who do not wish to be disturbed) even walk upto the rocks, and sit on the rocks when there is low tide.
The face of Bandstand changes in the evening when young college crowds sit on the promenade having bhel puri, sev puri and other items that are available at the many stalls at the promenade. Bandstand is not to be missed during monsoons.
You can visit Mount Mary church, which is connected to bandstand via Kane road. You can also visit the Bandra Worli sealink, if you have your own private vehicle. If you are fond of shopping, you can visit Hill road which is very close to bandstand.
